Set in the sumptuous splendour of The Great Room Restaurant, Afternoon Tea in The Merchant Hotel is a truly elegant and utterly delicious experience not to be missed by anyone. The most decadent traditional afternoon tea ever to be frank, you can even get a bottle of Champagne & Caviar if you're feeling really fancy. This afternoon tea really was indulgent luxury at the highest.
I have spent many a pleasant afternoon here with family & friends, this experience is something you cannot get enough of & is perfect for that special occasion.
The tea is presented in the traditional manner, with a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, mouth-watering cakes & sweet breads as well as fresh scones, warm from the oven; all gracing a silver tea stand. Have I mentioned yet it's all gluten free?! You simply call the day before when you book & say you'll be having the gluten free menu, they have everything prepared & ready & free from gluten! And of course no afternoon tea would be complete without the tea itself! They have an extensive menu of teas, too many for me to chose from, but if you are like my father & are a tea connoisseur you will love it! Or if you're just like me & love delicious decadent food; your eyes will light up & your stomach will thank me later!
